Don Crowe has been my therapist since we were in Little League baseball out in North Carolina. I was standing in Left Field the day he hit two grandslam home runs over my head. Really! He was 11 months older and functioned as the brother I never had. Three things made him a friend in those days. 1) His ability to listen intensely to what I was saying--even then, before his professional training. I always had the sense he wanted to understand. And more--to perceive what I was feeling. He didn't always "get me", but I usually knew he was trying. 2) His perceptive questions that went to the core of a conversation. "John, why on earth did you say that to her; do you know how any girl would take that?" "What are we doing in Viet Nam; this is crazy? 3) His genuine love of life. Don Crowe was deeply engaged in everything he ever touched: sports, girls, scouting, academics (except for math), making money, sneaking out of the Teenage Center to shoot pool on the "wrong side of town". Whatever Crowe did, he pursued it with all he had-and that made a huge impact on me, who was already a cynic, apathetic about life, drifting. His friendship made me better.
After 50 years, I've reconnected with my friend. I've discovered he's a bit older, slower, and stouter. But he's grown deeper, wiser in intense listening, in perceptive questions, and in his love of Life. I can't wait to see him again this summer.
Shoot him an email don@doncrowepsychology.com or leave a message on his answering machine 925-386-0109. If he asks who referred you, tell him, "O, just some guy out in Left Field."

If anxiety and depression have been acting like uninvited houseguests, Dr. Don Crowe is someone you'll want on your team.
Located near Orinda, California, Dr. Crowe is a clinical psychologist serving the San Francisco Bay Area who offers both in-person and teletherapy sessions throughout California (because sometimes you need help in sweatpants -- no judgment).
He works with individuals navigating anxiety and depression and is also an experienced couples therapist in the East Bay -- helping partners communicate without turning every discussion into a courtroom drama.
What I appreciate most is that he's thoughtful, grounded, and practical. Therapy with him isn't mysterious or intimidating -- it's real, collaborative, and focused on helping you actually feel better.
If you're looking for a psychologist in the Bay Area who combines heart, experience, and common sense, Dr. Crowe is a solid choice.
